First Deep-Sea Shark Fossil Teeth from the Miocene of South Korea

Important vertebrate fossil remains were collected in the Pohang Basin South Korea for many decades, but only few have been described up to now. Here, three deep-sea shark teeth are described, which most likely derived from Duho Formation (middle Miocene) near City, Korea. One of is identified as belonging genus Mitsukurina, while others assignable Dalatias. None these taxa previously reported Korean Peninsula. The occurrences deep-water fishes support hypotheses that was deposited a environment, and sharks, even including benthopelagic forms already widely distributed throughout East Sea when this sea still developing.
